Energy Efficiency

Energy usually accounts for a substantial portion of a plant's operating costs. So, cutting energy consumption can provide substantial savings that go directly on the bottom line. This panel discussion explores opportunities to pare energy use.

John Malinowski is the Senior Product Manager for AC Motors at Baldor Electric Company in Fort Smith, AR. Mr. Malinowski is a Senior Member of IEEE and is a member of the IEEE Industry Application Society. He serves on the IEEE Pulp & Paper Industry Committee, and is also active with IEEE Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee, Chairman for the Chemical Subcommittee and serves on several IEEE Standards Working Groups. He is Chairman of NEMA MG1 Motor & Generator Section, and Baldor's representative for Energy Star Partners and other energy advocate organizations. Mr. Malinowski has published several articles on motor and drive efficiency, maintenance and applications. He acts as company advocate with government agencies, professional associations, and industry standards committees.
   Andrew Sloley
   Chemical Engineer
   CH2M Hill

Andrew Sloley is a chemical engineer with CH2M Hill. His more than 30 years of experience includes technology development; engineering supervision; and distillation and troubleshooting consultation for the petrochemical and refining industries. He is the author of more than 200 papers on all technical aspects of distillation, chemical processing, troubleshooting, and energy conservation. Currently he works as a principal engineer for CH2M Hill. In this role his is responsible for specialized distillation systems in the refining, gas treating, biofuels, and fine chemicals industries. Previous experience has included operating companies, vendors, and consulting firms. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas, a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK), and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering.
